Zanobi MACHIAVELLI , about 1418 - 1479

Saint Mark and Saint Augustine

Date: probably about 1470
Medium: Tempera on wood
Dimensions: 129.5 x 52.1 cm
Acquisition credit: Bought, 1857

This panel formed the right wing of an Augustinian altarpiece. The left panel shows 'Saint John the Baptist and Saint John the Evangelist'. It has been suggested that both panels may have been from the same ensemble as the triptych 'The Virgin and Child with Saints'.
