100 ways to wear a bra

On a cold November morning in 2006 one hundred models dressed in black knickers and bras posed on the Sainsbury Wing steps. They were there to promote a new Wonderbra that can be worn in one hundred different ways. The only concern for National Gallery colleagues was whether the public might think this was a new uniform to gather the crowds!

Brief Summary

  • Locations:
     Columned portico, rooftop vantage points.
  • Style:
Gallery roof: Exterior spaces

The National Gallery has from its roof some of the best views across London. From the balcony above the West Entrance is a superb aspect through the fountains and down Whitehall and beyond.

The Sainsbury Wing offers a diagonal outlook over the square with a spectacular view of Nelson’s Column encircled by the London Eye.

For a more romantic or period setting there are numerous views from between the pillars at the Portico Entrance.

The National Gallery also owns Jubilee Walk that cuts between the main building and the Sainsbury Wing. By special arrangement access of the Walk can be closed to the public and light vehicles can be parked here.
